This is a chance to see Sir Paul Getty’s collection of books and manuscripts dating from the 7th Century, highlights of which are the medieval illuminated manuscripts of the 12th to 15th centuries.  Please check out the website below. The aim was to learn two structures: a small meander book and a matching box. The book was a variant on the accordion book, using a square of paper instead of a strip. Islimi is Islamic biomorphic design. We were working on the ‘Hatayi’ style which is based on stylized plant motifs. These can be used for a full or a partial border design or as a single motif on a piece of work. They are infinitely variable and simple to draw.
