VENUE: Stanton St. John Village Hall, Stanton St. John, Oxfordshire, OX33 1HD

She has had a life-long love of writing and has taught calligraphy to both adults and children for many years, She also demonstrates as a medieval scribe and illuminator. She is a Fellow of CLAS.
At this workshop we will be guided through some basic Gothic minuscules and will then explore ways of adding life, movement and informality to bring these wonderful letters out of the Middle Ages. Their dense texture and rhythms are perfect for modern calligraphy.
Julia will include a short demonstration of cutting quills using seagull feathers which she will supply and everyone will be able to try to cut one for themselves. No seagulls will be harmed!
