Summer Club Day
July 10, 2021 at 10:30 am - 2:30 pm
Saturday, 10th July 2021 will see us coming together in Stanton St John Village Hall for the first time since our last in-person workshop in February 2020. Summer Club Days are much-loved events, thanks to our tradition of lunching al-fresco, and a great way for new members to meet other members.
Unlike previous years, because there is a limit on the number of people allowed in the hall we are asking members to book a place for this Club Day. To reserve your place please contact Ruth on email@example.com As usual though, there won’t be a charge for the day.
Meet and mingle; browse the library books and Isabelle Spencer’s journals; collect your copy of Write On!, marvel at the display of members’ Dome and other little books. There will also be books and equipment for sale, kindly donated by David Nicholls, Beryl Knotts and Penelope Leaf.
11.00am – 12 noon:
Our speaker for the day will be Heather Hunter, Book Artist. Artists Books – Heather Hunter (hunterbooks.co.uk)
Heather is a long-standing friend of Oxford Scribes and describes her work as follows: “An artist’s book is a small art gallery with visual works and texts, in varying propo
rtions, and touchable materials producing intimate atmospheres where ideas are hidden and where they grow without feeding.
Heather will be speaking to us about Eco printing, and in addition will be displaying examples of her book and paper art. I think we’re in for a treat!
12.00 noon – 1.30pm:
Lunch – outside, weather permitting. Wine and soft drinks will be provided but please bring your own lunch, crockery and cutlery. And don’t forget a glass for a drink with lunch and a mug for tea or coffee throughout the day.
1.30pm – 2.30pm:
Further time for browsing the day’s displays and enjoying a relaxing time with friends.
The Village Hall’s conditions of hire will be complied with to ensure the hall is as covid-19 secure as possible. If you are attending Club Day, please make sure you bring a face mask with you (unless exempt).
